Brutal: Paws of Fury

Brutal: Paws of Fury is a typical fighting game in two dimensions. The plot is one big cliche: a certain Dali lama convenes the most powerful fighters on his "Island of Desolation" in order to arrange a tournament. The animal that defeats all opponents will have the honor of fighting Dali. The player is given a choice of 12 characters (not counting the two secret ones). These are anthropomorphic animals, the types of which are similar to the characters of Street Fighter II: here there is a bunny-bunny (a clear resemblance to Ryu), and a fox-sister (well, here is Chan Li), and a mouse-norushka (like Sagat, is fond of Thai boxing ) Not without the so-called "cranberry" - the Russian bear Ivan, the most powerful animal in the world (tracing-paper from Zangiev). However, blaming for such a strange outset and such characters is not worth it, so let's move on to the gameplay.

The main feature of these fights is the development of the character’s combat skills - after each victory a new special technique is learned. As a result, the first battles may not seem very dynamic, but on the final boss (yes, on that same Dali llama) you can come off to the fullest (unless, of course, remember these tricks). The accumulated experience is saved as passwords.

The rest of the gameplay is similar to many fighting games of the early to mid-1990s: you need to beat with your hands and feet and perform tricks. If you especially liked the battle, you can rewind it and watch it in slow motion. And, of course, there is a mode for two players.

In terms of graphics, the "Island of the Beast" looks good - bright colors and interesting background backgrounds do their job. Although, comparing with the aforementioned Street Fighter II, the detailing is not much better (with a difference of three years).

When considering Brutal: Paws of Fury, mixed feelings remain. In fact, this is a parody of games about martial arts, but instead of people - a harmless humanlike creature. But if you close your eyes to the plot and the simple graphics, then it will seem not so bad, but even funny to someone. And after all there is something to laugh at - a muscular rat the size of a lion!
